What you will learn

Our healthcare system has changed significantly in recent years. This can also be felt in the professional field of physiotherapy. Due to the latest scientific findings and medical progress, physiotherapy is playing an increasingly important role in the treatment of new clinical pictures in the neurological, pediatric, surgical, internal and orthopedic fields. Precisely because of this, physiotherapy is becoming increasingly important in key areas of prevention and rehabilitation. The population is getting older, unhealthy lifestyles are taking their toll and the youngest children should be encouraged at an early age to prevent later impairments. These described challenges bring many new demands on the knowledge of all those involved in the health care system and therefore also on physical therapists.

You treat people in very different life situations.

  • After accidents or sports injuries
  • With pain disorders
  • With diseases of the nervous system, such as stroke, Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis
  • With diseases of the internal organs, e.g. the cardiovascular system or the vessels
  • In preventive sports and exercise programs

During your bachelor's degree program, you will learn about the structure, function and diseases of the human body. In addition, you will learn scientifically based therapeutic methods that you can apply in your future work. You will benefit from a first-class team of professors. All of them are nationally and internationally renowned experts in their field and will think outside the box with you. We also train your management skills: You will learn how to successfully plan and implement projects and acquire basic leadership skills that will enable you to open and manage your own physiotherapy practice later on.

You will encounter various groups of people in your daily work - we will therefore teach you the right form of communication and various methods of conducting conversations. In addition, you will be trained to advise clients, patients and organizations on health-related issues and to exchange ideas across disciplines. In addition, you will acquire further knowledge in the field of health economics and deal with legal issues and business fundamentals.

Our university is characterized by practice-oriented lectures and competence-oriented teaching and learning, so that you will deal with practical issues related to the topic of physiotherapeutic treatment throughout your studies. Our lectures are held at a high scientific level and you benefit from the practical experience of our physiotherapy colleagues. Your teaching and examination methods as well as learning and teaching forms are consistently oriented towards the learning objective.

Your career prospects

Our innovative approach that pays off

Our practice-oriented bachelor's degree program opens up a wide range of professional career opportunities so that you can fulfill your dream and work in practices, clinics, rehabilitation centers and other healthcare facilities. It's up to you whether you work in a therapeutic capacity or in leadership and consulting roles. In addition, your bachelor's degree will give you an edge over your peers and allow you to work internationally.

Upon graduation, you will have a variety of opportunities to work in the field of physical therapy. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Hospitals
  • Outpatient practices
  • Nursing homes
  • Acute care hospitals
  • Spa facilities
  • Sports clubs
  • Therapy and rehabilitation centers
  • Health insurance companies
  • Facilities with people with disabilities

In addition, you can start your own practice or pursue an academic career at a university or research institution after graduation.

Details about the study model and internship

With us you study in a full-time study model, but in a so-called block structure. This means that the attendance time at our university is compressed and you can also be active in your professional activities.

Your studies take place every 14 days - on Thursdays and Fridays. This means that you can ideally combine your attendance time with your professional activity and your private requirements, and you have the chance to acquire new knowledge and apply it directly in practice at the same time. In particular, the internship, which is integrated into the study program, allows you to gain valuable insights into the professional activities of a "high professional". You will be part of a multi-professional team in fields such as prevention, counseling, diagnostics and therapy. Before, during and after the internship, you will also receive continuous practical support from lecturers at our university.

We checked it out for you.

Did you know that in Germany, according to the demand of the Science Council, 10 to 20% of a year's class should consist of academically trained therapists?

On the one hand, to give the therapy professions a higher professional status, because the development shows that especially physiotherapists can be a decisive interface to modern medical knowledge in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the most diverse clinical pictures and symptoms. Therefore, we also place special emphasis on making your entire study period as practical as possible. We think outside the box with you, teach in an application-oriented way, involve you in research projects and get you involved in a practical exchange right from the start.

On the other hand, academization is important in order to be able to work abroad as a physiotherapist. Already during your studies it is possible for you to study abroad for one semester with our Erasmus program.

FAQ

We will answer all your questions about your study of physiotherapy (training-integrated).

Apply now!

Our focus is on therapy with patients. The foundations for this are laid in the first two semesters. Starting in the third semester, you will have the opportunity to explore the various fields of physiotherapy in six-week internships. Both the teaching and the respective internship are accompanied by new scientific findings that you learn about in lectures and can try out in practice.

On average, the week in full-time study is filled with 35-40 teaching units (UE), consisting of classroom teaching and internship. In addition, time should be planned for the preparation and follow-up of the events and studying for exams.

You are more than your grades. We know that, which is why we want to support you according to your interests and motivation. Linking practice and applied science

"The new and professional physiotherapy is based on two essential pillars. On the one hand, on professional interaction between patients and therapists, and on the other hand, on the application and use of high-quality therapy-scientific measures. In doing so, physiotherapy is oriented towards the organ and functional systems and the experience and behavior of the person."

Prof. Dr. Tobias Erhardt, Director of Studies
