About me

Prof. Dr. Claudia Barthel has been a substitute professor since 01.09.2018 and professor of the Department of Physiotherapy in the training-integrated degree program at the SRH University of Applied Sciences for Health at the Stuttgart Campus since 01.03.2019.

After training as a physiotherapist in 2007, Prof. Dr. Claudia Barthel completed her B.Sc. in Physiotherapy at HAWK Hildesheim in 2009. During her time as a bachelor student and afterwards, she worked as a physiotherapist in the outpatient as well as inpatient sector. In 2013, she received her M.Sc. (cum laude) in Rehabilitation Science and Physiotherapy with a focus on Neurology, from the University of Leuven (Belgium).

In 2018, she obtained her PhD, with Marie Curie Fellowship from the EU, at Radboud University Medical Center and Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, Nijmegen (The Netherlands) on the topic of "freezing of gait" in Parkinson's disease.

She is actively involved in therapeutic research on physiotherapeutic issues as evidenced by numerous publications in renowned national and international journals such as "Neurology" or "Disability and rehabilitation".
