Higher education in the digital age

Digital teaching pedagogically rehashed for your needs.

On the pulse of the digital age

Our university of applied health sciences has been dealing with the topic of digitization for years and sees groundbreaking potential for teaching and learning processes in it, and not just since the Corona pandemic. As a digital university, we increasingly rely on flexible blended learning concepts to combine the best of face-to-face and online offerings. We want to provide our students with comprehensive media competence, which is of great importance in a media-dominated society.

We are creating space for digital teaching and learning in all of our degree programs in order to thereby combine presence offerings for studying and teaching didactically sensible with online offerings.

Digitization

Our goals and ideas

However, digitization at our university of health not only focuses on digital teaching and learning, but also firmly integrates our administrative processes and structures. By considering digitization in an overall context, we create numerous advantages for the quality of our students' studies.

For us, digitization means ...

  • to realize flexible learning and working conditions, i.e. independent of time and place,
  • to combine the best of face-to-face and online offerings,
  • thereby promoting comprehensive media competence
  • to move with the times and always think one step ahead,
  • decentralize and automate teaching and administrative processes.

Continuous optimization process

In order to realize our ideas and goals with regard to a digital everyday study experience for our students, we have set ourselves the goal of continuously reviewing, optimizing and adapting our processes and requirements. Our comprehensive quality management system, which is firmly anchored in everyday university life, enables us to live up to our claim of providing high-quality studies.  We have compiled an overview of what exactly we do and the questions we ask ourselves in the process:

How can we work with our employees to further improve our university's digital teaching and learning offerings?
What is already working well, where can we improve? We also regularly ask our students about this. Because that's the only way we can grow together.
How can we optimally integrate digital teaching and learning formats right from the start in the development of new degree programs?
We take an evidence-based approach and identify factors for the appropriate design of online formats based on scientific research.
Our instructors receive regular training on the use of interactive elements and are thus aware of current developments and opportunities in the digital age.
There is a regular exchange of experience between the employees of our university, so that we can benefit from best practice examples together.

Our goals and ideas

However, digitization at our university of health focuses not only on digital teaching and learning, but also on our administrative processes and structures. By considering digitization in the overall context, we create numerous advantages for the quality of our students' studies.

For us, digitization therefore means ...

  • implementing flexible learning and working conditions, i.e., independent of time and location,
  • combining the best of face-to-face and online learning,
  • thereby imparting comprehensive media competence,
  • to move with the times, always thinking one step ahead,
  • decentralize and automate teaching and administrative processes.
