What you will learn

Despite its appearance, psychology is much more than "just" Freud or psychotherapy. It deals with phenomena from all areas of interpersonal life and is applied in the world of work, education, politics, the stock market and trade. These and other fields of application are naturally also reflected in the individual modules of your bachelor's degree. In this way, we open up a wide range of perspectives and thus a wide range of career opportunities in the field of psychology.

Throughout your studies, we will provide you with a scientifically sound basic education in psychological contexts. The focus on clinical psychology, health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation reflects the expertise of our health university in this field and makes you an expert for mentally strong people.

Health in focus

Health in focus

Your job opportunities in professional practice could not be more diverse with a psychology degree. Psychological diagnostics, counseling activities, psychoeducation, health education and health counseling as well as coaching, support in coping with the consequences of accidents and illnesses, stress prevention as well as the development and strengthening of resources are just some of your possible fields of application. Through the inclusion of the application areas of work and organizational psychology as well as educational psychology and the focus on a solid methodological training, further perspectives arise for you, for example in workplace health promotion, personnel work and development, market research as well as in the implementation of training and further education.

Our experience and the networking within the SRH University Network show that a large proportion of psychology students aspire to further master's studies. The bachelor's program is structured according to the guidelines of the German Society for Psychology (DGP), so that the highest possible connectivity to master's programs in psychology is ensured.

At our health university, you can complete the master's programs in Mental Health and Psychotherapy (M. Sc.) or Industrial and Organizational Psychology (M. Sc.) with a focus on safety and health in the working world. The Master in Health and Social Management (M. A.) is also possible at our health university. In addition, SRH has other exciting master's degree programs in this field available for you at other locations. We will be happy to advise you on this.

Details about the study model and internship

With us you study in a full-time study model, but in a so-called block structure. This means that the attendance time at our university is compressed and you can also be active in your professional activities.

Your studies take place every 14 days - on Thursdays and Fridays. This means that you can ideally combine your attendance time with your professional activity and your private requirements, and you have the chance to acquire new knowledge and apply it directly in practice at the same time. In particular, the internship, which is integrated into the study program, enables you to gain valuable insights into the professional activities of a "high professional". You will be part of a multi-professional team in fields such as prevention, counseling, diagnostics and therapy. Before, during and after the internship, you will also receive continuous practical support from lecturers at our university.

On average, the week is filled with 20 teaching units (UE), consisting of face-to-face teaching, project work and workshops. In addition, time should be planned for the preparation and follow-up of the events and, of course, for studying for your exams. However, there is enough time for private activities and, of course, semester breaks.

Yes, almost all of our students have a part-time job, partly in psychological fields of activity, but also outside.

You are more than your grades. Whether you got an A in sports or art on your report card should not determine whether you can become a psychologist. As a private, state-recognized university, we set our own admission requirements and look at you as a person with all your motivations, which is why our Bachelor's program in Psychology is NC-free for you.

Individual support and practical relevance are two cornerstones of our teaching, which follows our excellent CORE-Prinzip  principle. That's why you study with 20 to 30 fellow students in the bachelor's program in psychology. Our master's programs have a group size of 10 to 15 students per cohort.

  • Market research
  • Workplace health promotion
  • Personnel work and development
  • Implementation of training, continuing education and further training courses
  • Internships and our career exploration offer you the opportunity to get a taste of all the work areas of a psychologist.

The license to practice medicine is only one tiny piece of the puzzle of your possible career prospects. We will be happy to advise you individually on this. Our Bachelor's program in Psychology and our Master's program in  Mental Health and Psychotherapy do not conform to the requirements for licensure and therefore do not qualify for licensure and further education according to the amended PsychThG.

Our experience and networking within the SRH University Network show that a large proportion of psychology students go on to pursue an advanced master's degree. Your continuing master's degree programs at our health university could be:
Mental Health and Psychotherapy, M. Sc.
Work and Organizational Psychology, M. Sc.
Health and Social Management, M. A.

"For our graduates in the bachelor's program in psychology, practice after their studies can look very different, because psychology is much more than just psychotherapy. It is applied in all areas of interpersonal life, whether in the world of work, education and counseling, or politics, among others. In order to open up these extensive perspectives to our students, we design the content of the individual modules accordingly."

- Prof. Dr. Katharina Wick, Head of the Department of Psychology

Costs and financing

Here you will find all the information you need to realize your studies.

Your financing

As a state-recognized, private university, the SRH Hochschule für Gesundheit is financed by tuition fees. These revenues are used for the equipment of our campus, the service for our students and the quality assurance. In this way, we ensure that you receive the best possible education under optimal study conditions.

Tuition fees

  • Gera campus: 520 € / per month (total: 19,170 €)

The monthly fee remains the same throughout the entire study period. The one-time enrollment fee is € 450.00 and is due 4 weeks before the start of studies. Except for the placement, aptitude or equivalency exam, if applicable, no separate exam fees or similar are charged, not even for repeat exams. This gives you maximum cost transparency during your studies. If you extend your studies beyond the standard period of study, fees will also be charged, since the university's offer will continue to be used. If only the final thesis of the course is still outstanding, the fees are reduced by 50%.

In addition to efficient organization, a goal-oriented course of study also requires a solid financial basis to be able to pay rent, living expenses and tuition fees. There are various financing options, such as BAföG, educational loans or scholarship programs.

We have compiled a list of all financing options for you here.
