Your course content

What you will learn

The diverse developments of our time - due to globalization, profound crisis situations, digitalization as well as the accompanying flood of information and communication technologies, and last but not least, due to demographic change - present our society with a multitude of complex challenges. And so the way people live, work and communicate with each other has changed dramatically in recent years. We feel this not only in our private lives, but also in our professional lives.

Particularly in companies, we experience comprehensive change projects much more frequently than we did just a few years ago. This inevitably leads to new demands on managers and consultants, who implement the projects with their foresight and involve actors from different areas.

In order to meet these complex challenges, you will acquire counseling skills based on a systemic approach during your studies at our university of health. In concrete terms, this means that you will learn, for example, to develop and expand the integration of different perspectives (multi-perspectivity, all-partiality) and circularity (consideration of interactions). In addition, we will teach you (human resources) leadership and development skills as well as competencies for managing and developing organizations or social enterprises in the context of stakeholders. You will also be enabled to responsibly shape the financial framework, taking into account professional, economic and socio-political aspects. In addition, your ability to work scientifically will be deepened and expanded during your studies. You will be able to react to professional developments in social work, e.g. social space orientation and digitalization, and transfer theoretical findings into practice.

Details about the study model and internship

You study with us in a full-time study model, but in a block structure typical for our university. This means that the attendance times at our university are compressed and you can already work in practice during your studies. This means that your studies can be ideally combined with your professional activities and private requirements.

In concrete terms, this means that you will complete a total of 6 blocks per semester, each with 4 to 5 attendance days at the university. These attendance days extend over one long weekend per month. The remaining time is available for practical transfer with a practice partner or as a self-study phase. Our goal with this innovative, practice-integrated study model is to enable you to achieve a very good balance between your studies, professional activities and family despite full-time study.

Your knowledge advantage through additional qualifications

As part of your Master's program, you will also complete the continuing education course "Systemic Counseling". Currently, the application for institutional membership has been submitted to the German Society for Systemic Therapy, Counseling and Family Therapy (DGSF), one of the two large and recognized umbrella organizations for systemic work in Germany, along with the Systemic Society. There it is examined whether the requirements for the DGSF certification, which is connected with a processing fee, can be fulfilled.

You will apply the learned methods of systemic consulting in our courses as well as in your own systemic practice. In this context, students participate in self-awareness exercises, which contributes to the further development of their personal and professional profile and enhances their self-reflection skills. Students expand their competencies in guided self-study time, which is anchored in particular in the modules on systemic consulting. In addition, the program gives you access to the continuing education program "Systemic Therapy".
