What you will learn
In the USA, the Netherlands and other European countries, the profession of physician assistant and the associated studies have been established for several decades. The field of activity of the medical assistant is becoming increasingly relevant, in particular due to demographic developments, changing disease patterns and the shortage of specialists. In Germany, this academic occupational profile in the healthcare sector is still relatively new and is developing dynamically - you can help shape it and, thanks to your practice-oriented studies, become actively involved in the treatment of your future patients.
Your academic training as a physician assistant will qualify you as an important link between all professional groups involved in patient care on the one hand and physicians on the other. With your studies, you will be able to perform delegable activities, which were previously reserved for physicians, independently according to orders. Of course, this requires extensive knowledge, which we will impart to you throughout your studies in a scientific and well-founded manner. This will enable you to support medical teams in their work in the future and at the same time relieve them. At the same time, this should counteract a fragmentation of care and questionable effects on patient safety and quality of care. We will prepare you to work with complex documentation and management processes as well as organizational procedures, or even to help develop and refine them yourself on behalf of the medical management. Due to your academically acquired competencies as a Physician Assistant, you are an important member of an interprofessional team.
The Physician Assistant program is characterized by an exceptionally high proportion of practical training at a total of three learning sites. This gives you the opportunity to get to know different inpatient and outpatient wards at practice partners as well as academic training centers. In addition, the fifth semester offers you the opportunity to select a practical module yourself or to spend time abroad and thus get to know foreign locations.
Overall, the focus of your studies is based on the consensus paper of the German Medical Association and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. In addition to profession-specific knowledge of medicine, we will also provide you with extended specialist knowledge of process and quality management. This will enable you to develop into an important worker who can be deployed in both inpatient and outpatient care.
You will later apply this extensive knowledge in numerous professional fields in the healthcare industry, because all this forms the basis for a responsible and successful job as a medical assistant in practices, care centers or regions with a low density of care.
Our innovative approach that pays off
After completing your bachelor's degree, a wide variety of career paths are open to you. On the orders of the doctors, you will take on both organizational and patient-related activities and deal with administrative and documentation tasks. This means that your day-to-day professional life will include a wide range of possible assignments in a wide variety of areas.
- Surgical subjects such as surgery
- Conservative subjects such as internal medicine
- Emergency room
- Anesthesia
- Intensive care medicine
- Functional diagnostics
- Other areas of specialist medicine
- Family medicine

Delegable tasks could include:

- Protocol and report preparation
- Surgical assistance and performance of minor procedures such as wound care and closures

Costs and financing
Here you will find all the information you need to realize your studies.
As a state-recognized, private university, the SRH Hochschule für Gesundheit is financed by tuition fees. These revenues are used for the equipment of our campus, the service for our students and the quality assurance. In this way, we ensure that you receive the best possible education under optimal study conditions.
Tuition fees
- 550 € / per month (total: 20.250 €)
The monthly fee remains the same throughout the entire period of study. The one-time enrollment fee is €450.00 and is due 4 weeks before the start of your studies. Except for the placement, aptitude or equivalency exam, if applicable, no separate exam fees or similar are charged, not even for repeat exams. This gives you maximum cost transparency during your studies. If you extend your studies beyond the standard period of study, fees will also be charged, since the university's offer will continue to be used. If only the final thesis of the course is still outstanding, the fees are reduced by 50%.
In addition to efficient organization, a goal-oriented course of study also requires a solid financial basis in order to be able to pay rent, living expenses and tuition fees. There are various financing options, such as educational loans or scholarship programs.
We have compiled a list of all financing options for you here.
