We all depend on care at some point in our lives. Yet it is precisely topics such as demographic change, technological and medical progress, and the increasing need for care coupled with a shortage of skilled workers that present nursing in particular with a multitude of challenges - regardless of whether it is health care, nursing or geriatric care.

This will enable you to help shape the future of the industry, because modern ward teams need nurses with different educational backgrounds in direct patient:ing care, from nursing assistants to masters. Only through this skill and degree mix can optimal patient care be guaranteed.

During your studies, you will acquire extensive knowledge and important and valuable skills for the everyday nursing care of the future. Due to our broad focus on sector-specific fields of activity, you can shape your career path individually. In addition to important professional competencies, you will also acquire interdisciplinary competencies, such as professional action taking into account the current state of research as a nurse. This will help you to be a driving force for improved nursing results, as well as to solve nursing issues in your team in a well-founded manner. Of course, further qualification for extended and particularly complex areas of responsibility, such as the continuous improvement of patient care, is also conceivable on the basis of your studies. Through the possibility of integrating (specialized) further education, such as ward management, PDL or facility management into your studies, you can also specialize in the leadership and management of nursing areas. Another option is the integration of vocational and nursing pedagogical knowledge. This will enable you to educate patients, to accompany trainees and participants in further education, or to participate in practical teaching at schools for nursing professions.

In the course of your studies, you can set an accentuation based on your individual focus according to your personal interests, ideas and future perspectives. Our elective courses allow you to focus on both subject-related and interdisciplinary areas. You can choose between competencies in practice consultation and guidance, in case management and in the management and leadership of nursing teams. You can also further develop and deepen these competencies in your own professional field-related project.

As an applied university, we attach great importance to the interlinking of theory and practice: This allows you to apply what you have learned directly in practice, while at the same time placing questions from practice directly in the lectures and with our experts. The modules of the independent study program also underline the special flexibility of the program. Here you can choose your individual focus from a total of nine subject areas. Our study program is supported by numerous cooperation partners. Throughout your studies, experts from the Bamberg Academy for Nursing Professions and the SRH Mobile University will provide you with valuable tips and experience during the individual modules.

Our bachelor's degree program in Nursing Science builds on your previous professional qualification and the associated professional license in the specialist profession, so our program is not designed as an undergraduate degree and you therefore do not acquire a professional license.

Details about the study model and internship

You study with us in a full-time study model, but in a block structure typical for our university. This means that the attendance times at the university are compressed and you can continue to work in practice. This means that your studies can be ideally combined with your professional activities and your private requirements.

On 5 days per month the teaching takes place in presence. With the integration of blended learning elements in your studies, you also enjoy the advantage of being able to participate in study-relevant content partially independent of location and at a flexible time. The remaining time is available for the practical transfer at your employer or practice partner as well as for your self-study. Our goal with this innovative, practice-integrated study model is to enable you to combine your studies, professional activities and family very well despite full-time study.

Shortened study time

You can study the bachelor's degree program in Nursing Science with us if you already have relevant professional experience. If you have completed vocational training in a relevant nursing profession, you can even shorten your studies at our university to 2 years (4 semesters) after successfully passing the placement exam and enter the 3rd semester directly.

Entry Requirements

You can apply without obligation at any time via our Online-Portal. We will then review your application documents and invite you to a personal interview.

For admission to the Nursing Science B.Sc. program, we require the following documents from you:

  • General university entrance qualification, university of applied sciences entrance qualification or an equivalent university entrance qualification according to § 67 ThürHG or university entrance qualification for qualified professionals according to § 70 ThürHG* as well as 
  • Proof of completed vocational training in one of the following professions:
    • Geriatric care
    • Health care and nursing
    • Health care and pediatric nursing
    • nursing specialist
  • Proof of German language level B2 (for international applicants)

*ThürHG § 70 (2) Vocationally qualified persons without a university entrance qualification who have completed vocational training and have been employed full-time for at least three years are also entitled to study in a specific degree program if they pass an entrance examination.

If you have the necessary entry requirements, we are already looking forward to your application, which should then include the following documents:

  • A curriculum vitae in tabular form with a recent passport photo.
  • A copy of your university entrance qualification
  • Proof of your vocational qualification and your professional activity (if you do not yet have a qualification, the last interim report will also suffice).
  • A copy of your identity card (front and back), for foreign students the National Identity Card.
  • For the online application process you have to register once. This gives you the opportunity to add information and files later before you send us your documents.

Costs and financing

Your financing

As a state-recognized, private university, the SRH Hochschule für Gesundheit is financed by tuition fees. These revenues are used for the equipment of our campus, the service for our students and the quality assurance. In this way, we ensure that you receive the best possible education under optimal study conditions.

Tuition fees

  • 500 € / per month (total cost when placed in the 3rd semester: 12,450 €)

The monthly fee remains the same throughout the entire period of study. The one-time enrollment fee is 450.00 EUR and is due 4 weeks before the start of studies. Except for the placement exam and the aptitude or equivalency exam, if applicable, no separate exam fees or similar are charged, not even for repeat exams. This gives you maximum cost transparency during your studies. If you extend your studies beyond the standard period of study, fees will also be charged, since the university's offer will continue to be used. If only the final thesis of the course is still outstanding, the fees are reduced by 50%.

In addition to efficient organization, a goal-oriented course of study also requires a solid financial basis to be able to pay rent, living expenses and tuition fees. There are various financing options, such as BAföG, educational loans or scholarship programs.
